I like shots like this one. When I try to take a shot with sun directly ahead, my camera makes the rays into streaks of red glare instead of the yellow or white rays like yours. I don’t know how to correct that color difference – is it a camera issue or post processing?
I’m with Wendy on the same question. If I even attempt to take a picture like this the whole image is a big red glare. Any suggestions?

Lens glare is a common problem for shots like this one. It depends on the camera lens how much the glare will be disturbing. Some lens are a little bit resistant, but if you have the sun directly front of you, you can’t avoid this effect…
You are able to fix it by post processing. Make some retouching (if the background isn’t so complicated). I like the other way. If you like the BW shots, just convert the colour shot to BW. Choose some tool (like Photoshop, GIMP) which allows you to play with colour channels. The colour glare will be suppress or dismiss and anyone won’t be able to recognize it 🙂
